It's time for another new podcast episode! ✨ I have been very busy preparing for my Relax, Rejuvenate, and Reconnect Retreat and it has me thinking about all of my favorite tools for the mind and body. I’ve always been a huge believer in the role of the mind in health, dating back all the way to when I earned my master’s degree in psychology. So for this podcast episode, I am joined by my son Anthony to talk about some of my favorite things that have shaped me as a person and health care provider. I share my favorite books about the mind-body connection and creating a healthy mindset; my top 4 all-time favorite supplements, which are essential for me and my family; and my favorite ways to relax and destress, which is absolutely critical for healing and wellbeing. I LOVE the latest episode with @shivaun.carter! ✨ Shivaun works with @scoutandcellar, a company that focus on wines that are clean, lab-tested, and healthy. We talk about how regulations in the U.S. can allow more impurities and chemicals into wine and how they compare to regulations and production processes in other countries. We also talk about some of the particular factors that tend to cause hangovers, like sulfites and sugar, and how to find wine with less of them. Today I’m conquering a fear…skiing. I only go once a year and everytime I get so worked up about it (just ask anyone in my life over the past few weeks 😂) But FEAR stands for a Fantasized Experience Appearing Real. Read that again….we make up a negative outcome and it keeps us from the experience or the opportunity!! Let it go, try it, imagine a successful outcome and then be proud of yourself for trying!! ⛷️🤩

New Podcast Episode Alert!! 🔈 I have a feeling a lot of people will be able to relate to this one... In this episode, I talk to my patient Jenn who was diagnosed with diabetes in her early 30s. It didn’t run in her family and it was nothing she ever expected to deal with. Her doctors at the time put her on a variety of medications and she got really serious about getting healthier. She lost 20 pounds pretty quickly, but she had a hard time keeping the weight off and getting her blood sugar down. That’s when Jenn came to see me and we tackled her issues one step at a time. When you start making significant changes in your life, it can be hard to see how those changes are impacting the ones you’re closest with. I have so many patients that start losing weight, feeling more energetic and start having a sense of empowerment and self-confidence that they didn’t have before. Ep. 24 of Get Personal with Dr. Kris is now streaming! ✨ By now nearly everyone’s heard of semaglutide, a peptide treatment for weight loss. But semagludtide is just one peptide among hundreds—and they can provide a huge range of benefits, from building muscle to improving immune function. This #ThursdayThoughts I’m talking about our latest offering at @desertwellnesscenter, Volux! I know I don’t usually discuss aesthetics, but if you want to look as good as you feel, sometimes a little treatment here and there is all you need to get that pep in your step! 😊

For today’s #ThursdayThoughts I’m talking about perimenopause, aka the time in which your body begins to transition into menopause. 🌸 During this time your hormones are changing... a lot. Your estrogen levels begin to rise and fall unevenly resulting in symptoms like moodiness, depression, fatigue, lack of motivation, decreased muscle mass or loss of interest in sex. The good news for those of you entering this phase is that there are treatments available. Pellet therapy, especially for testosterone, can significantly improve negative symptoms of perimenopause so you don’t have to suffer through it. If you do decide to go down this route, it is important to keep in mind that because your estrogen is going up and down, some symptoms may persist and it could appear that your pellets aren’t working. When this happens, there are a few things I suggest you take a look at. The first is sleep quality and taking note of the amount of rest you’re getting. The second is nutrition and asking whether or not you’ve been eating mindfully (not too much or too little) or trying to avoid foods that can be harmful for hormone health. And the last big one is exercise and making sure you’re either getting enough movement in throughout the day or you’re not overdoing it with intense workouts. Consider some of these things when you’re looking for ways to manage the ups and downs of perimenopause! Happy #summersolstice - the longest day of the year! Its name comes from the Latin words sol (sun) and sistere (to pause and be still).☀️ The June solstice marks the time of year when the sun appears to cease rising and sitting. It’s associated with change, nature and new beginnings. There are many traditions and rituals that are practiced on this day, perhaps because it seems like a logical time to pause and contemplate. For those of us who follow yoga practices, we begin summer solstice with 108 sun salutations. This acts as both a moving meditation AND a challenge. 💪🧘🏻‍♀️

You’ll find countless articles written about why a significant percentage of men avoid going to the doctor and many of them site fear of uncovering potential health issues as the reason.
